Lynn Gallimore, Owner

Inspired by a life-changing journey to Africa, Sinya is a quaint and secluded retreat for two located atop a ridge overlooking Lone Man Creek in Texas Hill Country.

The structure of Sinya is an authentic, custom-designed safari tent from South Africa and embodies the resilient spirit of it's namesake, an orphaned baby elephant rescued by the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in the area of the first tented camp of my Tanzanian Safari.

The grueling process of building Sinya was not only a labor of love and passion, but a quest to learn more about myself and just how much I could realize on my own. The feeling of accomplishment that comes from standing on the longleaf pine floors that I hand-sanded piece-by-piece, stained, and installed (with a little help) is a great reward.

Upon returning to Houston after three soul-searching weeks on Safari, I was consumed by thoughts of my experience and how therapeutic it was for me. In 2008, I sold everything and bought a 5-acre property in Wimberley. Sinya was born from my desire to bring a little piece of Africa to my land and as a reminder to live more simply and closer with nature.
